Spring 2019 President's Letter

Dear CHPBA Families,

My name is Joel Simon, and I’m the President of CHPBA.  I’m writing this letter to introduce myself to you (although I hope to meet every one of you in person at the field), and to tell you what the Board has in store for spring baseball at the park.  It’s hard to believe that we’re already on our way to the 2019 spring season! It feels like only yesterday that we were all at the field talking about our summer 2018 plans.

The CHPBA Board and I are excited for another great year of baseball at Cheviot! This year one of our big themes is community, because that is what brings us together -- the great kids and families of Cheviot Hills. Whether it’s friends from local schools or your neighbors, we’re blessed with amazing people and a great place to hang out, spend time and play baseball.

As you probably know, each July brings a new Board with new energy, and fresh ideas.  We’re always sad when our friends age out and move on, but they will always be part of our Cheviot family.  We always try to honor their years of service, while continually trying to strengthen our community’s bonds and improve the overall baseball experience for our families.

Some of the changes you will see this year are an updated, refreshed website, and an emphasis on Cheviot not only as a baseball league, but as a community filled with our friends and neighbors. We are planning multiple community events throughout the season, including a January get together at the field to “tune up” for spring ball, mentoring programs where our oldest players are paired with our youngest players, outreach programs for at risk children, a movie night at Cheviot, and many more. If you want to get involved or have some great ideas, please reach out to myself or one of our board members.  There are also volunteer opportunities listed on our website.

Keep on the lookout for emails regarding our “Winter Community Event” on January 5th and for the Sign Up Genius for evaluations.

Here’s to a great 2019 spring season!
